Delores King Williams

King Williams is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and began her
vocal studies there at the The Peabody Conservatory of Music.
She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and currently
performs “musical political satire” as a featured member
of “The Capitol Steps”.

Ms. Williams is equally at home
in theatrical productions as well as concert settings, having
performed in musicals, operas,
plays,
night clubs, commercials,
concerts, and video productions. Performance highlights include: international
appearances at the North Sea, Montreux , Nice, and Vienne jazz festivals,
performances at the White House, a tour of India, off-Broadway
appearances with “The
Capitol Steps”, an Australian tour of “Porgy and Bess” with
the Washington Opera Company, concerts with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks
Orchestra, and performances in last season’s “Carmen” with
the Washington Opera.

Delores is a winner of a Downbeat magazine award,
a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk Vocal Competition, a winner of
the “Billie
Holiday Vocal Competition”,
a former member of the United States Army Band and a recent “Audie” award
winner for her narration for the Library of Congress. Her latest recording
is with the “Buselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra’s Tribute to Hoagy
Carmichael/2003”.
