American mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Bishop has performed in opera and
oratorio across the country and abroad, in music ranging from Baroque
to contemporary music. A winner of the 1993 Metropolitan Opera National
Council Auditions, Ms. Bishop was an Adler Fellow with the San Francisco
Opera and debuted with the Metropolitan Opera in the 1993-94 season
in Death in Venice. Ms. Bishop has performed with the Symphony Orchestras
of Atlanta, Chautauqua, Indianapolis, Louisville, and New Jersey, as
well as with the National Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Baroque
Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Ms. Bishop has appeared with
the Opera Houses of Dallas, Memphis, Minnesota, San Francisco, and
Washington, and also as a guest soloist in a gala concert with the
Washington Concert Opera. Abroad, Ms. Bishop has performed in Italy,
Tokyo, and Malaysia. She has appeared at the Brevard Festival, and
her other roles with San Francisco Opera have included Tisbe in La
Cenerentola and Emilie in the world premiere of The Dangerous Liasons,
which was televised nationwide on PBS.
