On behalf of the board of trustees,
I extend a warm welcome to you, the patrons, supporters, and friends
of the McLean Orchestra, for our thirty-fourth season of great musical
performances. This season, McLean Orchestra will once again fill
the air with beautiful music, fulfilling its mission to provide “excellent
orchestral music.” We are proud to be able to present outstanding
music, performed by talented and dedicated musicians, led by our distinguished
Music Director, Sylvia Alimena. I know you will enjoy tonight’s
concert as McLean Orchestra’s musicians lead you through a season designed
to evoke images and themes from great literature.
Beginning with the passionate music of Ravel, Saint-Saens,
and Tchaikovsky in our opening concert, McLean Orchestra will
enchant and inspire. And it only gets better, as this
season, the Orchestra will present selections from many great
composers, including Mozart, Vivaldi, Berlioz, Respighi, Stravinski,
and Mendelssohn. Ravel said that music “must be
emotional first and intellectual second.” This season,
McLean Orchestra will bring Ravel’s thoughts to life with a
season that will stir your emotions and satisfy your musical
intellect.
McLean Orchestra’s presentation of great orchestral music
requires more than just the great performers you see in concert. Our
dedicated and generous members of the board of trustees provide
leadership in giving and countless hours of service. This
season, we also welcome a new executive director, Nicole Fauteux,
who will be an instrumental part of our continued success.
The most important part of our success, however, is you, our
audience, our patrons, and our supporters. Thank you
for joining us, for your continued support, and for your enthusiasm
for and appreciation of great orchestral music. I look
forward to meeting many of you throughout this season.
